Business Facade Improvement Program

The Township of Esquimalt’s Business Façade Improvement Program helps local property owners and businesses enhance the appearance and vitality of commercial areas through matching grant funding for storefront improvements, signage, exterior renovations, and public-facing upgrades. By providing up to 50% reimbursement of eligible project costs, along with optional architectural design support, the program encourages investment in attractive, welcoming commercial spaces that increase customer traffic, support business success, strengthen property values, and contribute to a more vibrant and distinctive community.

Place Brand & Marketing Plan

The Esquimalt Place Brand and Marketing Plan establishes a clear and compelling identity for the community through the brand“The Place to Be.” Developed through community engagement and endorsed by Council, the plan highlights Esquimalt’s unique blend of natural beauty, strong community connections, quality of life, and economic opportunity. It provides a strategic framework to promote Esquimalt as a destination to live, work, invest, and visit, while supporting economic development, attracting investment, enhancing community pride, and creating a consistent message that reflects the community’s vision for future growth and prosperity.

Banners to Bags

From street banners to community gifts Every bag has a story and a second life What began as Esquimalt’s street banners—celebrating our heritage, people, and seasonal events—now continues in a new form: reusable, practical, and meaningful. The Banners 2 Bags project transforms retired street banners into handcrafted shopping bags. Each bag is made from durable nylon and sewn by skilled community-based sewers. The result is a useful and beautiful item that reflects both creativity and care.

Street Banner Revitalization Program

The Street Banner Revitalization Program enhances Esquimalt’s public spaces by introducing vibrant, locally inspired street banners throughout key corridors and entry points across the community. Featuring original photography and artwork that showcases Esquimalt’s shoreline views, heritage landmarks, parks, and local culture, the program strengthens community identity, improves the visual appeal of public spaces, and supports place branding efforts under “The Place to Be.” The initiative also demonstrates a commitment to sustainability through planned banner recycling projects and future opportunities for local artists to contribute to Esquimalt’s evolving streetscape.
